Hi RonD,

The sequence to reset the printer after changing the waste ink tank is proprietary information of which we cannot share. The replacement of our waste ink tanks is done by authorized service centers who are the only ones who have information on resetting the printer after changing the waste ink tanks. I am sorry I could not provide more information to you.

I have had several Canon printers and have been very satisfied with their performance. I still have a Pixma 1700 that is doing a good job. However, this will be the second Canon printer that goes into the trash. Epson or HP may be a better replacement for me. I won't be using my new Canon Forum membership but thanks for the prompt reply.
