So there was an DDoS attack last Friday that involved some IoT devices, in particular webcams. But there can be further vulernalbilites with other devices such as printers, which can be used as part of a botnet. What kind of measures should you take to ensure that our printers wont be suceptible to being hijacked to be used in a botnet?

Canon engineers do not post here, so don't expect an answer.

Printers are a little different. Generally you don't print from outside your local network, so you can configure the firewall to not allow outside connections to the printer.

A standalone webcam, on the other hand, needs to respond to outside requests so that you can access it from anywhere.
