I have a canoscan lide 210 scanner. It worked well with my previous computer, but now I get errors.

I'm posting a solution I found that others might find useful.

New computer: Windows 7, motherboard Asrock H97 Pro4.

Errors:

 * Intermittent

 * Scanner starts scanner, then stops with message "cannot communicate with scanner"

 * In my case, the error number is 2,155,177

Fix (so far, works 100% of the time):

I went into the BIOS (now called UEFI I guess) and changed the Intel USB3.0 mode from "smart auto" to "disabled".

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about making that change, but (a) it's easy to change back, (b) I don't usually attach anything that needs high speed USB, (c) I usually scan infrequently in large batches, so if I want the USB setting the other way ("smart auto") I could just leave it that way and occasionally disable it when I have a lot of scanning to do.

Of course the right thing would be for canon to fix the USB driver of the scanner (I assume that's the probleml).
