When will Canon drivers be updated for Mac Big Sur operating system?

The current drivers for Canon printers on Apple produts have never worked with the beta of the Big Sur operating system. (they only print table outlines but no text). Feedback to Apple acknowledges that many people have reported this but the reply is the "OS is operating as currently designed", meaning Apple feels its Canon's problem.

Once the OS is public, how long will it be until Canon releases updated drivers? Anyone have any insight, experience, or notion of when (or if) they will do so?

Many people ask this same question prior to an OS release.

Lots of variables to consider.

Hardware compatibility

Popularity of product

Support life cycle

Drivers can start showing up 1-3 months before OS release, and then continue to trickle out for 3-5 months after release. Not all products will continue to receive support, even if they run under Catalina. In some cases, support for a new OS can be added to a recently released driver version. Support varies and is never guaranteed. .

If you rely on you system for production, I would suggest that you not upgrade it as you may not get working drivers when the OS is officially released or at all in some cases. Playing it safe is recomended to ensure productivity.

I'll wait for the official reelase and a bit longer. My HP is still working fine and if I just have to switch to them to get product support - well that's capitalism at work.

A work around, not a happy one admittly, is to convert your document to a JPG or PNG and then it will print.

Good news: Big Sur is out and I was able to find MacOS 11.0 drivers for my MF4700n at the Canon Singapore site.

I can't believe this, I have had a new MF644cdw for 3 months, updated to Big Sur, and now I can't print! What do you say Canon, " tough luck" or ?

I was personally having these issues with a Canon C2225. The US site does not offer any drivers for Big Sur, however, the UK site does. Downloading the drivers for the "C2225i" and installing the utility ( found here https://www.canon.co.uk/support/products/imagerunner/imagerunner-advance-c2225i.html?type=drivers&driverdetailid=tcm:14-1937126&os=macos%2011.0%20%28big%20sur%29&language=en) fixed them without any further configuration on my part. I assume this might work with some others that are not currently printing.

I found the new Big Sur driver for the LBP6230 and I successfully installed version 1.5.7 on my computer, but now when I add the printer, it refernces the old driver version 1.5.4. Any advice?

Nevermind. It works. Apparently there is a glitch that causes it to show the old version even though the new one is installed.

Hi,

I do have an ImageClass MF726CDW.

I can only print using AirPrint to print using macOS Big Sur.

But I cannot find the scanner.

The MF toolbox cannot find the scanner from the network.

It works fine in macOS catalina.

What do I need to do to make it work using macOS Big Sur?

Also, how to update the latest firmware for MF726CDW in macOS Big Sur?

I owned three models of Canon: 2 of which were just purchased 6 months ago and 3 months ago.

NOw I cant get it linked to Big Spur. What a dissapointment and depressing circumstances. Had voiced this to Apple as well for the inconsiderate move. Easy suggestion from them - do not upgrade but we all know that somethings get in the way when you dont upgrade.

Upset my printer won't work now I've updated to Big Sur. I really don't want to have to buy a new printer especially as I've recently bought an entire set of printer inks. Do any Canon printers work with Big Sur? or do I have to buy another make?

Iv'e been using PSP for some time with Catalina but now upgraded to Big Sur to now find it doesn't work. I have a Pixma Pro 10 printer so if anyone knows where I can get the plugin please let me know. It's unbelievable! I bet Epson are up to date!

Same here.

My IPF8400 no longer works since i upgraded to a new mac with BIg Sur. Print Monitor pops up and says that the Printer is ready. But the job does not queue up or print on the print monitor window.
