What has happened with the WFT-E2A? Has Canon disowned it?

A few years ago I spent a considerable amount of money to buy a WFT-E2A transmitter for my EOS 1DsMk3 to transmit images to an Apple MacBook Pro. I had it set and working, then packed it away never to be used again. Now, for various reasons I have gone back to it and because my camera has been in for repair and reset to factory default settings and also Apple have upgraded the OSX system many times, I find that the instructions I had are out of date and I cant get the things to communicate with each other and worse still, I have a large Prom to photograph next week and need to have it all working before then.

Canon seem to have disowned the WFT-E2A because I can only find information on a mark 2 version and later models but not mine. The menu on the camera has changed too. Can anyone please help with simple step-by-step instructions? The Apple is running OSX 10.10.5.

Sort of!

It's an older version of OSX and some of the screen shots don't apply now to OSX 10.10. For example, in step one there is no Airport setting, so thats a good start!!

I have tried this yesterday, guessing at what needed changing but have failed miserably and I'm running out of time!

I just tried setting up my 1D Mark IV as a test. I used ad hoc since my MacBook Air (El Capitan) isn't set up for FTP.

Setup worked fine.

The only difference I saw was that Airport is now called Wi-Fi.

Found this on setting up FTP; haven't tried it.

So did you set up a wireless connection or just use the default one in step 4 where there is an Airport connection shown?

I haven't tried to setup FTP, but I did follow the link I sent and was able to activate FTP and access my MacBook via my Windows PC.

I just tried the EOS Utility setup. With the new EU, when you get to the end of the instruction then you need to manual start EU2.
