Which camera will take the best pictures a powershot SXis or an XA10 camcorder?

You can answer it yourself, what is the maximum image size of the camcorder vs the camera. Generally, camcorders have very low resolution.

There is no Powershot XS. If I remember correctly, do you mean a XS 10? You are wanting to know if it or a XA 10 HD camcorder can do better in stills? Or do better in video?

By far and away the Powershot will be easier to do stills with and likely produce better work. And I suspect the XA 10 HD will trash the Powershot in video.

You far are better off using the camera that is meant for its particular function.
