I’ll let the comments below determine if that is a scientific fact, or just marketing mumbo jumbo."&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;IS is subject to coriolis!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;It is mumbo jumbo.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;How do they compensate for the effect behaving differently on different parts of the globe, northern and Southern Hemispheres. &amp;nbsp;At the equator, there effect disappears, and gets stronger the further you move away from it.. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I heard an explanation&amp;nbsp;of IS as a comparison to a car t&lt;SPAN&gt;raveling at 60mph for 5 minutes, it is easy to figure you will be about 5 miles from where you started. Yeah, you might be off a little bit because you may be moving at 59 or 61 mph, but where you end up is easily in walking distance of your predicted location. Not too bad!&amp;nbsp; But, if you try to predict where the car will be after an hour instead of&amp;nbsp; 5 minutes, that same small 1 mph error will magnify over that longer time period, and you'll end up a full mile off. Can you live with or are you OK with that big of an error ?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Same with IS. The more you ask it to do the less effective it gets.&amp;nbsp; It works very well at a 1 stop helper but when you get to 3 or 4 stops&amp;nbsp;it works less because of tiny miscues&amp;nbsp;in the electronics and motors and I guess the Earth's rotation.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;"...image stabilization’s theoretical limit is set at 6.5 stops&amp;nbsp;..."&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Theory's are great until they are proved to be wrong.&amp;nbsp; Just ask any astronomer or NASA.&amp;nbsp;&lt;img id="smileyvery-happy" class="emoticon emoticon-smileyvery-happy" src="https://community.usa.canon.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.png" alt="Smiley Very Happy" title="Smiley Very Happy" /&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
