Error 20 on rebel t5i

I was given this camera because the SD card reader wasn't working and have been using it as a webcam, but today I decided to fix the card reader. I took it apart, fixed the bent pin, put it back together, fired it up, and formatted the card. Great, right? Went to snap a photo of my dog as a final test and got error 20. What should I do? All the ribbon connectors seem to seated just fine and it was working perfectly until I tried snapping a photo

You can check, but I don't think Canon would service that model anymore (at the 10 year mark now since its release).

You can try to see if repair shops such as midwestcamera may be able to help.

Though do weight the cost of repair over a replacement. e.g. B&H Photo's used department has body-only T5i units at around $350.
