topic Canon R6 Auto focus problems after updating to firmware 1.8.1 in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Hi,

So I just shot four talking head interviews today and the interviewees were simply sitting and talking. However, the auto focus was constantly hunting in the background. While the subjects tended to stay in focus the auto focus would not stop blurring the background from blurry to blurryer and back. I was shooting ISO 800, F4, and Shutter 1/50 at 24FPS. I was also shooting in Clog 3. I am simply just so confused at why the camera couldn't stay locked on to one simple subject that was not moving whatsoever.

Hi,

It sounds like the camera likely has the [Continuous AF] function enabled in your camera menu. This is a setting which is turned on by default and since you recently updated the firmware that means the camera settings would have been reset to default as part of the update process. Disabling the [Continuous AF] function in your menu should resolve the issue.
