Had my favorite camera fail on me.

Currently wont power, upon battery entry the red light blinks once.
Note:

1. Have used non Canon batteries and battery grip

2. Tried the most basic trouble shooting as far as I know (Leaving camera open, fresh battery, newly formatted SD)

3. Replaced the entire middle frame/housing of the camera because thought the microswitch may have been damaged. Still same issue. (Probably should’ve used a multimeter when I did this)

Yes, I meant to mention that. So upon battery contact, the camera flashes red once. Every time.

Tried that, done it again with leaving it open overnight. Still hasn't turned on. No mechanical noise from the camera upon turning on. Link blinks once when battery is inserted, and beyond that nothing seems to be functioning.

Hi, everyone! To save you all some time, the EOS Rebel SL1 is an older model which we have retired and as such, we no longer accept it for repairs.

You can also speak with a Canon Upgrade Program specialist to help you score a modern replacement that would meet your current needs at a discount. You can reach them weekdays and Saturdays at 1-866-443-8002.

Hope this helps!

1. Have used non Canon batteries and battery grip

3. Replaced the entire middle frame/housing of the camera because thought the microswitch may have been damaged. Still same issue. (Probably should’ve used a multimeter when I did this)

You did two of the of the most problematic things you can do. Who knows what could be wrong now? If I remember correctly, the Rebel SL1 was not designed to use a battery grip. That in itself tells you it is probably not a good idea to try and circumvent what Canon did not want.

2. Tried the most basic trouble shooting as far as I know (Leaving camera open, fresh battery, newly formatted SD)

At this point this is about all you can do. Repair is unlikely.
