I agree. Battery life seems reduced with most EF and EF-S lenses. The larger EF-S lenses do present a noticeably larger load on the battery than the EF-M lenses.

Hi everyone. I just upgraded from the standard 15-45mm EF-M lens on my M50 to an EF-S 55-250mm telephoto lens. However, I felt like the camera’s battery lasted less than it did before with the smaller lens. Has anyone been in a similar situation with larger telephoto lenses or am I just going crazy? Thank you!

I don't have experience with the EF-S 55-250mm, but I do have an EF 75-300mm and I believe it does drain the battery more than any of my EF-M lenses, if for no other reason than that there's more and heavier hardware for it to move around. You definitely need to have extra charged batteries around for the M50 I've found. I have three and cycle through them regularly.
