This is very distressing.

Why CANON don't update the firmware to add an option to hide it while keepin focus on?

PS: Nikon did... 😞

Your camera doesn't support Clean HDMI OUT. So all of the things visible on the rear screen will be visible on an external monitor. Or external hard drive your recording to. You will need to use a higher end camera that supports Clean HDMI OUT.

Which camera model did Nikon upgrade to “Clean HDMI” output with a firmware upgrade?

It is an overly simplistic idea to believe that a simple firmware update will add “Clean HDMI” output to any given camera. It is almost always a hardware upgrade, not a mere firmware update, which is the case with the 80D and many other Canon DSLRs.

Please take a read through the posts in this following thread. At or near the bottom of the thread I explained to someone making the same argument that you are why it is a hardware upgrade.

I point out that which your video only hints at. If you convert the HDMI output to a clean output, then the user will not able to control or change any settings on the camera. This is because the camera needs to have TWO sets of video output circuits. One to drive the HDMI port, and one to drive the rear display to allow the user to control the camera settings.

Like so many other cameras, the 80D seems to have only one set of video output circuitry. This is why the rear screen blanks when you plug in an HDMI cable. The rear screen does not go blank when you connect an HDMI cable with camera bodies with “Clean HDMI” output.

Only some of their mid range cameras and their high-end cameras offer Clean HDMI OUT. The Clean HDMI OUT feature is LIMITED to certain cameras. So you can use manual focus if you want Clean HDMI OUT, AF is NOT possible. A firmware update will NOT work. Cameras that offer Clean HDMI OUT have 2 dedicated video circuits. One for the HDMI Port the other for the rear LCD screen. During Clean HDMI OUT none of the menus or other info on the rear LCD screen are displayed over the HDMI port.
