I would not worry about it and just use the 5D as is. The indicator is probably just incorrect. Repair is not a likely solution.

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a used Canon 5d classic and all seems well with it except the battery indicator is not working correctly. I have tried 3 batteries (1x BP-511a and 2x BP-511) but all batteries indicate only 1 bar on the Canon 5d classic. I have tested the batteries in a Canon 20d and it shows up properly. I have also tried cleaning the battery contacts in the 5d with vinegar but no progress. Any suggestions that could help solve this issue? Thanks!

" I have also tried cleaning the battery contacts in the 5d with vinegar ..."

Not my first choice for cleaning the contacts. Try some denatured alcohol on a qtip.(unlikely to help but cheap thing to try)
