EOS 7D Flash Unresponsive

Good evening, I bought a canon 7d used and I’m running into a flash issue. When I press the flash button nothing happens, when I try to go into settings it tells me “accessory installed” and they’re nothing installed. Anyone know how to fix this?

There is a microswitch located underneath one of the spring leafs under the hot shoe. This micro switch could be stuck in the down position. Telling the camera that a speedlite or some other accessory is in the hot shoe.

is there a easy way to fix this, or am I gonna have to pay big bucks at a camera repair store

Yes it is usually easy to fix without requiring an expensive repair. It is also a common problem if a speedlite or other accessories are used in the hot shoe. You can Click here too resolve the problem. Also note the built in flash is NOT very powerful and is also used for AF Assist. The camera pre-fires the built in flash to assist with low light or low contrast focus. The built in flash can be discharged quickly if the built in flash fired repeatedly quickly. The camera will report a "busy" message until the built in flash has recharged.
