If you mean you want to save to a file the blinkie image that shows on the LCD the answer would be you can't.

If that's not what you are asking provide the info indicated by Danny and clarify the question.

You are correct in that I want to save the blinkie image to a file that shows on the LCD screen. I believe Canon can find a way to program what I am looking for. How can we pass on the idea to CANON?

You want to put it back on the camera, too? I don't think that is possible but since I have never and have never wanted to, I have never tried. The back of the camera LCD screen is for facsimile display of what you are taking or what you just took as a photo.

This is a public forum mostly answered by users just like you and not Canon employees. So any suggestions for future features posted here will fall on deaf ears.

Display it on the LCD screen after you take the image and record a video with your phone maybe? Other than that you are asking the camera to create a video of exposure data of an image or video that may or may not have been recorded to a memory card. I don't see a huge demand for that ability.

It's the highlight warning image that can be programed to display on the rear LCD. Why someone would want that escapes me.

I think you would need an image editing app that can create GIFs. Photoshop can do it. I think there web sites that can create GIFs, too. I do not know if the web site allows you to download the final image as a file, though.

Maybe the OP is wanting to put together a tutorial or such and wants to show what the display looks like when the Highlight Warning is enabled. I think I'd try to take a photo of the LCD when the proper effect is displayed. If you needed to show it actually blinking you'd want to take multiple images and combine them in an animated GIF.

You should be able to hook up the HDMI and a capture card to get exactly what is on the LCD. As to why, I am mystified, too.

In Photoshop you can do this whether this is what the OP wants, I don't know but it is possible. If all you want to do is show an overexposed area you can make that in PS also.

A GIF, whether animated or not, is just an image file type. It can be from any type of image. If it moves it will be several or a series of images. Simply load your images and open each one in a layer in Photoshop. Open the Timeline panel and select Create Frame Animation. Select Make Frames from the layers in the Timeline panel. Set the GIF to loop.

What you do with it after this is up to you.

Lightroom as well can show areas of overexposed parts of the photo.
