Some Rebel Series (N. America) (xxxxD line outside N. America) cameras have a sensor that turns off the LCD screen when you're using the viewfinder. Check to make sure that the viewfinder eyepiece cover. Is fully seated in place or the LCD screen will not turn on.

My 2000D lcd screen went black at the beginning of a shoot. After the first shot, I tried previewing it but the screen went black. It works in movie camera mode but not in any stills mode. I’ve tried full batteries and new SD card. Same thing each time. Screen remains black but comes on while in movie settings mode

Yes, I’ve held it for 10 seconds, tried pressing it multiple times as well. Seems odd the screen works in movie mode but not in any other mode
