canon 200D external battery + USB problem

Canon 200D works fine with external power but when I connect the USB it stops working and displays a PC and battery symbol only. Anyone have any clues how to get USB connected AND external battery supply working together? Original battery and USB work fine together.

I'm using a AC-E6 adapter and a DR-E18 dummy battery coupler. It says they are fully decoded and works fine without the USB cable plugged in. When the USB cable is also plugged in, so that my PC can control the camera, it thinks I want to charge the battery from the USB port and the camera stops working or talking to the PC and displays the PC and battery symbol.

If the USB cable works without the power adapter, then it sounds like a potential ground loop issue. Try using a different USB port.

Is your laptop also connected to a power adapter/charger? If so, unplug it. See if that fixes it.
