all of the subjects are in sharp focus with the background getting blurry. This occurs when the lens is shot wide open, like F2.8-4. This is called "bokeh". In terms of vibrance, there are settings which you can adjust in camera to suite your color preference. Look in the R6 manual for "picture style".

Reponse to Jaewoosong:

What comments do you have about the apparent smearing, also what looks like an odd colour cast?
Before you give an diagnosis, consider this:
1. we don't know the EXIF settings for the taking of the image, lens, etc.
2. We don't know what, if any post production was applied
3. We don't know what settings for noise reduction were set up.
So, would you consider that it might be worth asking for more information before making a statement?

All valid points, just starting with the simplest possible explanations first based on limited description OP provided and assuming image is straight out of camera.

The image itself shows extremely heavy JPG compression but can't tell if that is due to original or canon downsizing images for preview on forum site. I assume the latter (based on experience, no website wants to pay for storage to hold original images, especially a forum site and will often resize images on upload with low quality settings/high compression). Excluding the heavy jpg compression, foreground is sharp and background is blurry which would suggest shallow DOF/bokeh, which many new photographers many not initially understand. The simplest answer for flat/dull is picture style setting and user's not knowing that they selected a style or what it does. The bonus question for odd color is incorrect white balance (but OP didn't mention about the color, just vibrancy). The actual answer maybe completely different (OP heavily processing a tiny JPG file and exporting it with low quality) but started with straight out of camera answers first.

10 years managing kodakgallery and flickr websites dealing with billions of images uploaded/processed/printed and users asking why their images look bad.

I respect your experience, but personally prefer to wait for the OP to respond. In this case particularly, there is virtually no context and the posted image is obviously downsized. For me, that is too much variable and unknown. IMHO they need to give us a lot more detail as to how they shot, the camera config and what they did in PP.
