R5 Silent Shutter Sound when stopped down?

Setup:

R5 with RF to EF Adaptor for all my Canon glass, have no RF lenses as of yet (have rented but not purchased)

I photograph lots of birds and am fond of the highspeed electronic shutter. I normally shoot my lenses wide open, 2.8 & 4, but because of all the snow I stopped down to 5.6 and 7 to catch some depth of field for some particular photos and noticed that the electronic shutter no loger is slient but sounds like it is firing the aperture blades, is this what Im hearing and is that normal? Go back to wide open, sound is gone.

Thanks for your input!

You are hearing the aperture blades, focusing/view finder is always at wide open and it steps down to take the photo. Entirely normal.

Rodger
