Canon Eos R Red Tint AWD

Purchased a Excellent Used Eos R a few weeks ago. Love it, except it has a definite red tint to its AWD photos (and in the view finder, if I'm honest). The following photos show it:

#1 - Taken with my Google Pixel 2 phone. Color is accurate in this one.

#2 - Taken w/ 40mm lens, f/8, 1/500 sec, ISO - 100 AWD Ambience Priority

#3 - Same settings as #2, but AWD White Priority

Here's my question: Is this a specific camera problem (not a usual problem with the Eos R)? Or is there a way that I can adjust my settings to get a more accurate tint in my photos?

Have you tried resetting everything via the reset menu?

Have you tried "Green Square" mode on a nice sunny day?

Do you have another lens to try?

Have you tried some specific white balance settings?

Have you tried RAW?

Have you tried resetting everything via the reset menu? YES

Have you tried "Green Square" mode on a nice sunny day? YES

Do you have another lens to try? YES. Tried my telephoto

Have you tried some specific white balance settings? Not Yet

Have you tried RAW? I shoot specifically in RAW

After all these attempts, there is still a red tint to my photos. Any other thoughts?

Remove any lens filters. They can do weird things to colors, which I do not like.

How are you processing the RAW files? Do the images look "tinted" in the camera, too?

Are they tinted during image playback, is what I meant. I was not clear.

Wait, tinted in *the viewfinder*? (As opposed to the LCD)

That points to a lens/filter problem.

I *also* wondered if it was an Ra and not an R ... because the Ra is an astrophotography camera and especially sensitive to reds (which is beneficial for astrophotography) -- this would be normal. I have a 60Da and if I were to take an ordinary daytime photo, it looks similar to yours.

For a R (without the a) this is not normal. You said it also looks red through the viewfinder. And this makes me wonder if there is a filter installed either on the lens or in the body. (Astronomik, for example, makes "Clip Filters" (filters that clip INSIDE the camera body). You mentioned this is a "used" camera and ... it made me wonder if perhaps the previous owner added a filter and forgot to remove it. You can look at the Astronomik website (I'd provide a link but Canon doesn't permit external links to other products) and look at their "Clip-Filters" for EOS R cameras and you'll see what they look like.

If it isn't a filter ... and if doing the full camera reset doesn't correct it ... then it's time to call Canon. Becuase it certainly isn't normal.

It almost makes me wonder if it isn't a mis-labeled Ra body.

I guess that's a possibility (mis-labeled Ra body). I definitely now think the camera must've been modified for infrared.

That could be ... and I thought about that. There are services that will convert a camera for IR operation.

A way to test... grab a TV remote control (or any IR remote) where your eyes can't see the light when you operate the remote (make sure it's an IR remote... some remote use radio). Point the camera at it while using the remote to determine if you *can* see the remote light up when looking at it through the camera. If you can, then it's probably been modified for IR operation (normally the built-in IR filter on a standard camera prevents them from seeing IR ... or if they do see it, it's *very* weak. If that filter has been removed then light from the remote should be easily visible.
