topic EOS 80D E05 error, but the flash actually does pop up in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

My 80D had been sitting for a while, but today I finally got it out and tried to take a few shots with the flash on. Unfortunately, although the flash does extend as normal, I hear a clicking noise from the mechanism and the E05 error is displayed. Has anyone ever experienced this and if so, how did you resolve? Thanks!

Greetings,

If you are lucky.. Try reseting the camera to defaults, then turn off and remove the battery, Replace with freshly charged battery and retest. (likelyhood of success - Low)

If this does not work... Your 80D will require service:

Canon Knowledge Base - Error Codes (EOS 80D)

Contact Canon
