topic Please help me identify this camera, in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Please help me identify this camera,

I was recently given a canon EOS Rebel film camera (yes i still mess with film) and it is not like my other EOS camera's.
By that I mean the other's are all marked with EOS Rebel T2i, T3i, Ti etc. but this one is only marked EOS Rebel with the red swoosh under that and no other markings other than the serial number on the bottom.
I have searched everywhere on the old inter-web and and can't find info on it.
i would like to give it to my niece for her upcoming photography classes but I would hate to have her ask my Which one is it uncle? Can anyone here help me out with this ID?

Maybe it's a "Rebel S"...

Note that Canon has used different names for the same model, depending upon the market where they are sold.

The EOS "Rebel" series is unique to N. America. In Japan the same models have been EOS "Kiss". In Europe they have generally just been listed with a model number: EOS "1000".

From your description it certainly sounds like the original "Rebel" that came out in 1990. It had no built-in flash.

The version with the pop-up flash was called the "Rebel S".

THAT'S IT! exactly and it's weird that I searched all through the Canon museum and could not find that camera listed. Now, do you think that the canon site has a PDF of the user manual that can be download for my niece for this particular camera?

The reason you couldn't find it is because Canon lists that camera as the 1000 QD in the "Museum". It was only called "Rebel" in North America: 1000 QD

Canon no longer supports that camera but you can download the manual for free from this private website that specializes in old manuals: Canon Rebel manual
