Understood.

The camera does have an internal mic as well. When I play back the video, it gives me a white noise sound. I was hoping that I would’ve been able to salvage it some how. Bummer...

Hello!

I recorded a video with my camera, had a rode mic attached to it but later realized the mic was never on. When I play it back on my camera, there is no sound. Is there a way to salvage it? Or is it a lost cause?

Since no sound plays back on the camera, that means that sound was only being captured externally. And with that mic being off, then you're out of luck.

Having said that, for the future, look into if the camera can record sound from the internal mic as well as from the external mic. That kinda gives you a backup (well scratch audio which is better than no audio). Probably not though; typically more professional video recording gear allows you to record audio from internal and external mics at the same time.
