I wont to know if an EOS IX lens will work on a Rebel XS?

As I recall they have an EF mount, so it will bolt up. But the real question is why?

I saw as a 55-200 mm lens for $ 76.00 as I look into it . It said it was an IX . So now I'm thinking that I will not be getting that one. I do need a 55-200 mm lens.

Not sure what your budget is, but you might consider a 55-250 IS (non-STM) instead. This version has image stabilization and gets you a little more reach, in a more modern piece of equipment. They released a new version not long ago so the original (it's actually a Mark II) is fairly cheap. Here it is for $167 with a small accessory kit:

You might be able to find a better deal if you look around. I'd also look at getting one refurbished from Canon, but I just checked and their lens stock is practically depleted.
