I just purchased a EOS-R and want to update the firmware. The problem is when I go to the menu selection, wrench, page 6 the camera is missing the option to update. Any idea how do I fix this, please?

There is nothing to "fix". The problem is that your camera is in automatic mode, which limits what menu choices are available.. Only the most basic menu choices are available in Automatic mode.

Switch your camera to P shooting mode, and leave it there. It will work almost exactly like Automatic mode, except you will now see the full gamut of menu selections.
