Yes. Canon website shows that software is compatible with W8.1

the camera is a rebel xt so it is very old an the software does not work at all on windows 8.1. the only thing I can do is up data both camera and soft ware. rite now i can not up load my memory card at all or make any cd or dvd

If this is your only reason, all you need do it get a card reader. They are cheap and work as well or better than the software.

You can then use Win 8.1 do all your processing or buy Photoshop Elements and really do it.

However, far from me to discourage a new camera buy!

The T5 has gobs of new things it will do over an XT.

I did buy a card reader it worked once and that is all it did. I have to at less 5 other people( different camera's) they are having the same proble . thanks for your help. now its just paying for it.windows 8.1 is just a pain.
