topic EOS R won't turn on/only LCD panel turns on in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

Just got my EOS R tonight and spent an hour taking some test shots after I charged the battery and everything was fine. Came back an hour or two later and started going through the menu and adjusting settings, got to the "release shutter w/o lens" setting when suddenly the camera froze. The screen went black as well as the viewfinder and all the buttons stopped working. The LCD panel is frozen with just an "M" for manual being displayed and the wifi and bluetooth symbols in the bottom left corner. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in several times but nothing will turn on except the LCD panel, which won't turn off until I manually take the battery out.

I would either call Canon Tech Support (they are great) or return it to the merchant.
