Hi RayRochelle,

Based on your description, I'd recommend letting the Factory Service Center take a look at it. Because this happens intermittently, I recommend providing as much detail (just as you have here) as possible to allow them to track down the issue. You may set the repair up here.

My T3i trips shutter on its own and will snap several 4 or 5 before stopping. This seems to happen when I bring the camera up to my eye from a waist position with the lens facing the ground Is there someone who can help direct me?? Also the cable release operates when it want to and sometimes it will not work. I have already replace the Cable release twice. None of this happens all of the time, it seems to start when it wants to????? Can you offer any help??? I have reset the camera to factory settings with no change. And just as quickly it will change and go back to its proper functioning both with the cable release/shutter release

Ray

RayRochelle,

my t3i released the shutter several times today without me pressing the button. When it occured, It was usually just after I've taken a handful of shots. This is the first time I've experienced that behavior.

Not sure if it's related but since you mentioned it, it seems like one or two of those releases were when i was swinging my hand away from my face and likely in a downward motion.

Not sure what's up but that can drive a guy crazy. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks, kevin

Do you boys have battery grips? If, yes, look no further. Remove them.

ebiggs1, I do.

My first thought was that I was triggering the shutter with the release on the grip. However, my grip has a power switch for the release and other buttons on the grip. I keep them turned off.

Are you suggesting that the grip is not performing correctly or that I accidently hit the release on the grip?

Thanks for the quick response. kd

Yes, remove the grip. Is it a Canon brand? If it is not throw it away, too.
