I have a rebel T1i. What would be the best software to buy for photo stacking? I would use it for star trails.

Since you SPECIFICALLY indicated that this is for "star trails" there is a freeware program called StarStaX that does this.

You can find a number of YouTube video tutorials which demonstrate what it does and how to use it.
