EOS100d. Making shutter release when autofocus isn’t confirmed??

If the AF is struggling to focus and before the confirmation is given in the viewfinder is there a way of getting the shutter to fire anyway? Often the pic looks focussed and I’d like the camera to take the shot.

Yes - switch to “AI Servo” focus instead of “One Shot” focus.

AI Servo uses “release” priority... meaning it will auto-focus when you half-press the shutter button (and will KEEP focusing ... it is meant for situations where the subject distance is changing ... sports/action/wildlife, etc.) but when you fully press the shutter button, the camera will take the shot immediately (regardless of focus).

“One Shot” uses “focus” priority... it wont take a shot unless it believes it has confirmed focus.

Yes there is. There is a switch on the lens called AF/MF. Change it to MF. You can still get focus confirmation but the camera will fire whether focus is achieved or not. It will be up to you.
