Where would I find those settings on the T6s?

And let's say those settings are turned on? Should it really take more than a minute to process? More than 5 minutes? 10 minutes? (That's how long I am giving it before I unlactch the battery and start over)

Thank you for helping us troubleshoot this issue!

I just bought a T6s and have a strange problem (I hope it's a simple answer!). I can take one picture and then it locks up and I cannot take another. The message on the LCD monitor is "Recording..." "Remaining images: 1" with the continuously circling ball. It's as if it can't record. We formatted the card. So I'm not sure what's wrong. When my husband first got the camera, he ussed it for a few days without any problem. This just started today.

Is it possible that you accidentally turned on the card's "write protect" switch?

It almost sounds like the camera is in video mode. But, if it is telling you that there are "remaining images..." then it is likely in a multiple shot mode, such as in-camera HDR.

Mulitple shot mode can be a one-time affair, or a repetitive mode where every "single shot" you take actually requires you to take multiple shots of the same image. Check your menus to make sure that multi-shot or HDR modes are not active.

Until you finish the required number of shots, then the camera could be busy processing the previous shots. I can see the camera "hanging" if your multiple shots are not at all similar.

After having the problem, we took the SD card out and used into another Canon camera, and we had no issues. You could get our T6 to work with the card after an error message by taking out the battery and putting it back in to "reset" it. But after awhile, the error would occur again. I ended up taking the camera back to the store. And the Canon guy, after observing this process, said that the error message number meant it was a problem with the SD card. Though he offered to replace the camera, we decided to replace the card and see how it goes over the next few days. Weird - especially since we used the card -- it was brand new -- in another camera and it was OK. Thanks for the help!

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel t6s

The problem: When I take one picture, the camera reads, "Busy", the remaining pictures number starts to blink "999", and the red light remains solid. This doesn't stop when I turn the power switch to off, but rather it changes to saying "Recording... Remaining images: 1", the blinking number stops, but the red light remains.

I have tried using multiple different SD cards and have come to the same conclusion.

I have tried erasing all the settings (i'm assuming that is back to factory settings) and still have the same issues.

Varying results occur when I take the SD card out, turn on write protect put it back in the Camera, turn on the camera, get the error that the card is protected, turn off the camera, take the card out and turn off write protection, replace the card back in the camera. I can then (sometimes) get the camera to take one or two photos before then reverting back to the above issue.

My questions are:

Has this happened to more than just the two people who have posted here?

Has there been a fix found?

Do I need to send my camera in for support/fix?

What shooting mode is the mode dial set for? Make sure it is not "HDR Backlight Control" mode, see page 27 of your Instructional Manual. You can download a manual if you do not have the original handy. The following is from page 7.

I would recommend using a Class 10 card, 64 GB or less. A 16 GB card would be ideal for just photos saved as RAW.

Again thank you for your help.

First, just double checked and all SD cards we are using fit the requirements. So we can check that off.

As for the HDR, it appears this mode is only available in the SCN mode on the mode dial. As for all of our testing, we have been using Auto w/ flash, Auto w/o flash, and M. The issue presents itself most (but not limited to these conditions) when we change the settings on Manual and create long exposures, etc. For some reason, it seems that anything the camera needs use processing power for just sends it for a loop.

I am now testing to see what happens if I leave the camera to porcess the image fully. I want to see if it will eventually finish. Right now I am at 5 mins counting

Here is an image of what I am looking at after I have turned the power swithc to off.

Recharge the battery, and perform a full reset of the camera. Refer to the manual on how to do it. Restoring Factory Settings should be an option in one of the menus. Be aware that any custom settings may be lost.

Also, be sure that the SD card that you are using has been formatted in the camera, not elsewhere. If the cad has been formatted elsewhere, then it is necessary to to do a low-level reformat inside of the camera. Be sure that the storage size of the of card does not exceed 64 GB, which you seem to have already confirmed.

Also, there is an internal battery that keeps track date/time. The camera may not be fully reset until that internal battery has also discharged, too. Some people, who report using various different models, claim they have reset this internal battery by removing the main battery, turning on the camera and pressing the shutter, turning it off and repeating a few times. I have no first hand info to support those claims.

I was able to find the equivalent of the factory reset for this camera (it's called "clear all settings"). After charging the battery to full I removed the SD card and cleared all the settings (factory reset). I then replaced the SD (16 GB SDHC Lexor Class 10) and factory reset it in the camera. I then used the camera in auto mode and was able to take several photos without issue. I then switched to manual mode and took several photos with the preset settings without a problem. Sadly, I then turned the shutter speed up and then experienced all the above symptoms. I then repeated the factory reset options and from the very first photo experienced the issues described above ("busy" flashing "999" etc.)

Thank you for all your help. It is apparent this issue is abnormal.

I am not convinced that your camera was fully reset. If the date and time did not clear, then it is highly likely that all internal camera settings were reset.

The internal battery is auto-charged from the removable battery. The internal battery keep track of date and time, and other setting details, when the rechargeable battery is removed. I suggest removing the rechargeable battery, turning the camera on, pressing the shutter. and then let it set for a week. We want to clear the date and time inside the camera.

This sounds like either a memory card problem, or a card adapter problem.

If you're using a micro SD card, try using a full-sized card. We've found when there are less variables involved, there tend to be less issues.

Also, we've found that not all cards are created equal. Card manufacturers don't seem to follow any strict guidelines as it pertains to read/write speeds. Even though your card might be rated as a class 6 or 10, that only means it's capable of reaching that speed, not sustaining it.

Our support team has a list of cards that have been tested to work with our cameras - I believe that SanDisk,Toshiba, and Samsung are on that list.

When buying memory cards, we always advise buying from reputable sources - either online or in person. Memory cards are very easy to counterfeit.

I wonder if it might be helpful for the OP to upload a couple images here with the EXIF data intact. Maybe someone will spot something that looks funky in the EXIF information.
