Every single time I've had a camera that didn't seem to want to turn on is because the memory card door was not closed properly. All the other stuff you did could have coincidentally closed the memory card door, and may have no correlation to the actual problem. Otherwise it sound like a trip back to Canon may be in order.

Like some other users with EOS I experience a 'dead' camera with my brand new 760D.

Sometimes I can recover by removing the battery and card and let it sit there for long, e.g. overnight.

When I re-insert the battery, the red carddrive LED flickers a short moment and then I can turn it on and it works as usual.

I read some people have had problems with the carddrive slot or the switches of the battery or carddrive doors.

Is it a software issue?

Can I do some hardware reset to skip that annoying waiting time?

Cheers,

Martin

I agree with TTMartin. I would add that make sure that you have a quality, full size card, not one with a mini-adpater.
