canon 600d issue with sd

Hello guys had a issue with a sd card sandisk whats wrong is this a problem with the card or camera? both are more or less new the sandisk bough only a few months ago.

issue-

card can not be accesses reinsert/change card with camera their was about 8gb on card it was working fine all a sudden it stopped working I could swear I had smelt a burning smell. I changed to a diferent card and it was fine card was 32gb extreme 60mb/s class 10.

any ideas?

I tried format it says canot format change card?

It may be "toast".

But at any rate, they are cheap enough, I would not trust it and buy a new one.
