There you go, you probably need a stereo one. You are probably shorting out one of the pins in the sterso socket telling the camera that you really don't have a mic connected.

Hello Cannon Lovers!

I own a Canon rebel T5 camera and love to make short films and videos. The picture is amazing, but wanted more for the sound, so I went and got a Trakster Microphone off amazon and when it came in it had a 3.5mm plug but my camera has a 2.5mm interface, I went and bought an adaptor to be able to let it plug and work. I turn the camera on with the microphone plugged in and the camera will not let me record anything. I unplug the microphone and it will let me record. The seller said the microphone is universal and will work with any camera with a 3.5 interface? Has anyone have had this problem before? PLEASE HELP! Anyone!

Is your new microphone mono or stereo? Was the adapter mono or stereo?

My T6S has a stereo microphone connection.
