M50 / Kiss M - Incorrect Firmware Version showing

Hopefully Canon drop in occasionally as I recently updated the firmware to v1.0.1 on the M50 but it shows in the EXIF as 1.0.0 for both CR3 & JPEG

It looks as though the update didn't work.

Did you follow the instruction exactly, One of the important steps is removing and refitting the battery once the update has finished.

Thank you but the update did work as on the camera is shows the right version, I suspect that the right version isn't written to the EXIF on the images.

If I remember correctly this happened years & years ago with the 7D also.

This will require a firmware update. They will probably update the EXIF to say version 1, while the camera will be at version 2. 8^)
