Are you talking about a Speedlite? An external flash you mount on top of the camera is called a Speedlite, and it takes AA size batteries.

I bought rechargeable batteries for mine, though, so in a way it is sort of rechargeable.

NO description, but it looks like it takes AAA battery. I've seen a flashlight like this with a built-in battery. So it's pretty safe to assume that it will take rechargeable battery.

Man! You've got to be a serious Canon Fanboy to need one of those! (Okay, I'm pretty bad... I've got Canon straps, fanny pack, lens cloths, calendars and more... but mostly from my CPS membership ).

I agree... it looks to take either AAA or AA batteries. You can buy rechargealbe versions of those. I use them in Speedlights and some other accessories. They give faster recycling and last longer than AA alkalines, at least they when they are fairly new. Cost more than alkalines initially, but are good for any number of recharges, so save money in the long run.

***********
Alan Myers

San Jose, Calif., USA
"Walk softly and carry a big lens."
GEAR: 5DII, 7D(x2), 50D(x3), some other cameras, various lenses & accessories
FLICKR & PRINTROOM
