My 70D suddenly froze and died while shooting a video. Does canon over the option of swapping cameras for a new one?

It isn't a swap but it is something. Call Canon and ask.

I suppose you have removed the battery and lens and tried to revive the camera without success?

Canon used to have something like a loyal customer program where you can turn in old or dead Canon cameras for discounted prices on new ones (usually refurbished equipment).

As far as I can tell they no longer officially do that. However, I heard that if you call in and with the right person, Canon would still give you a good deal.

The 70D is still a great camera...I'd consider sending it in for repair...it might be worth it.
