Hi All,

I have had my 1DX for awhile now and yesterday I decided to shoot some video with it. There ended up being 3 MP4 files that it created.

My question is which Canon software will recognize this file format to let me edit and merge them together?

I downloaded the latest at greatest Movie Editior and it still gives me the message that no clips can be found.

Along those same lines, will the Canon software allow me to make lighting and color edits such as white balance.

Sorry for the newbie type questions, I have just never done video before with any of my cameras.

Thanks In Advance

AFAIK, no Canon software works well with movies.

If you are on a Mac, use iMovie.

Hello sfmalone2001,

The Canon software supplied with your camera is more geared towards working with the photos. For video editing, there are other third party editing suites more geared towards a high end video production workflow.

I downloaded a copy of the old Microsoft Movie Maker (used to be part of Windows) and it works OK as a basic editor. I believe it is still out on the web but be careful of malware, etc. from a sketchy site. I grabbed a copy about 3 years ago when it was still on the MS site because I needed something to work with the HD video files from the video/data recorder built into my 2016 Corvette and it is very easy to use.

The people who provide the free open source VLC video viewer also have a free video editor and that might be worth a look. I downloaded the VLC viewer app to my iPad yesterday after growing frustrated trying to complete the simple task of moving a couple of video files from my PC to my iPad. iTunes transferred it but iMovie didn't recognize it. After fooling with native Apple Crapple software for an hour I installed the VLC app on the iPad and was playing the video 5 minutes later. MS has forgotten how to write a good OS and Apple still has an incredible talent for making the most simple of tasks difficult 😞

Rodger
