Err: communications between the camera and lens is faulty

Sometimes, after i shot the shutter, it's showed "Err 01: communications between the camera and lens is faulty ". i turn off the camera, and reopen it, then it works. I cleaned the connection between the camera and lens. what's the problem?

"Cleaning the connection" can be tricky. If you use anyghing that's the least bit abrasive, you can do more harm than good.

Absolutely true and it rarely works. The act of mounting and removing the lens tends to be self cleaning.

You need to have it checked out by a Canon service center.

Sometimes it is the problem of the broken flex cable inside the lens.

I have replaced cables of a few cheaper lenses successfully. But when I attempted to repair the EF 24 70 F2.8 I broke the flex cable connect the power diaphragm to the MB and have to send the lens to Canon for repair. They replaced the whole unit plus some collars and charged me $300 including tax and shipping.
