Canon 6D with external Flash speedlite 580ex

I have 2 speedlite 580ex and my friend has a 430 exii.

I use a canon 6 D

I put the flash on hot shoe and inside the menu it says;

''This menu cannot be displayed, incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off.''

It does the same thing for both of my 580ex

But when using my friend 430 exii, it works!!!

So maybe you guys can help here?

Welcome to The Canon Forums, and thank you for your inquiry!

The original 580EX is not compatible with menu control due to it's age. It will still function, but you will not have that level of control from the camera body. We hope this clarifies!
