Video with 7d Mark II questions

I videoed a rockabilly band that I'm friends with the other night and all in all I think it was ok, I just left everything on the default mode as it was my first time.

1) Can someone recommend a quality external microphone?

2) Is there any freeware video editing software (lightroom is limited)?

3) Most importantly Audio editing. I'll need to play with the compression and equalizer, so is there any freeware software for this?

Any help is appreciated.

Start with iMovie. If that does not do what you want, you might try Premiere or Final Cut Pro X. Are you on the Adobe subscription plan?
