Canon Rebel eos t1i Viewfinder Status Bar Numbers/Manual Settings Unreadable/Illegible

I recently started using a T1i and when I look through the viewfinder, I cannot read the settings at the bottom. It appears that all the lines which make up the letters/numbers are lit up at once... I already adjusted the dioptic/viewfinder dial (+/- dial) and that didn't make a difference. Viewfinder is not blurry, but green numbers at the bottom in the status bar are just unreadable. I don't use my screen often and I can't figure out how to get this camera set up to where I can just use the viewfinder like I did with my 50D. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like it is broken. If you are inside and cannot see them, then it is probably defective.
