This camera is old one, Canon EOS 450D. But I want to fix it.

Picture looks like posterized but it is not.

Still looks posterized. Have you tried resetting the camera?

It really looks like dodgy JPEG artifacts, that I would not expect with fine-medium. Have you tried fine large?

Yes, first I reset the camera and tried large-fine also.

I found one old message thread from internet, where was a same problem. Camera was Canon EOS 5D. He opened back of the camera. When he had pressed the ribbon cable against the LCD he saw a posterized picture. So the cable may press the LCD. I also think about opening back of the camera and try that. I do not how that cable can touch the LCD and why now because camera worked so well before this problem.

If you are handy and can take the risk of losing this very old camera, and you can't find a Canon repair center to repair it or find some local camera repair shops to do it for you, you may consider to DIY repair it youself.

Check out a previous post here :

http://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS/Weird-polarized-view-on-older-Canon-DSLR-EOS-5D-DIY-sharing/m-p/161376/highlight/true#M16882

Of course, a poor contact of flex cable may not be the only problem. It could be other electronic problems. But, "why not" if you have very little to lose.

If you can bear the polarizing effect play back on the screen which will not affect the image quality of the pictures taken, please forget about it and keep on shooting with it until you upgrade to a newer camera.

in my case is not a setup issue, or polarized glases haha... is definitely something broken inside... I sent it to repair a month ago ( $300 repair for replacing the screen) and just recived a call from the shop telling me that they replaced the screen but the issue is still there, and it's a motherboard issue and there is no repair o_O and they don't replace the board... (here in Montevideo, Uruguay)... so... I'll try sending the camera to another shop

I don't even own polarized glasses. Canon said I need a new LCD screen. I'm so tired of people assuming people don't know how to work their cameras, I've been shooting with this camera for 3 years, been operating a camera for about 8. I know what I'm doing when it comes to cameras but this camera was terrible quality for the cost.

In our defense, I'll point out that many of the people who join the forum actually are looking for help, so it was an innocent mistake. Also note that at least one other person had the same problem. So when Tom mentioned polarized glasses as a possible contributor, he wasn't necessarily aiming the suggestion only at you, leaving you free to ignore it without further comment.

I know this is an old post, but I just purchased a 5D with this issue and fixed it myself. All I did was open the back of the camera, which is a matter of undoing 6 screws. I unplugged both flat wires that connect the LCD to the camera, and plugged them back in. This fixed the issue completely.
