My series number faded after a while, how can I get it back or bypass this step.

The camera attaches metadata to every image file, which contains the camera serial number. The metadata is organized in specific format. It is more commonly called EXIF data. Many applications can read some or all of the EXIF data, including most file browsers like Windows Explorer.

This question is ambiguous. Do you mean "serial number"? How you can find that out has been explained. But what do you mean by "or bypass this step"? By pass for what? What step?

The SL2 is a fairly new camera model to have the serial number already rendered unreadable.

She is trying to install some Canon software that requires the serial number to unlock it.

Whoa missed that. Obvious I guess but I am not a Canon software user that much so that is why.
