topic The M: Back soon? in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

It looks as though the M series may soon be back in the North American market after a hiatus of two or three years. Canon's USA Web xite now lists a forthcoming M-3 with what appears to be a somewhat contemporary range of features (24+ MP APS-C sensor, 49 AF points, etc.).

Two questions:

- Who in the group will be first to buy one and report back to the rest of us whether it's any good or not?

- Can we trust the M series to stick around for the long haul this time?

I confess to being curious about this. It occurs to me that, if modified (to replace the IR filter) it would probably be a great astro-imaging camera and fully compatibile with the vast amount of astro-imaging software already written to be compatible with Canon cameras (which usually just requires that the camera have a Canon DIGIC III or higher processor.)
