Jeff, two years later and I'm having the identical problem, same camera. I've searched but can't find instructions for the M-Fn button that make any change to the problem. Can you recall?

I was shooting with my EOS 7D and the LCD Monitor (rear) stopped functioning. I can't play back any pictures, use the Q menu or choose info. Nothing displays. I can put it on the CA Mode or in the Video mode and it displays so the Monitor works but I can't get to any menus at all. Need help urgently. Thank you in advance.

I figured it out. Need to work with the "M-Fn" button. Which just for feedbacks sake is not listed anywhere

Thanks, Robert. I did find those references in my manual, but still I don't see how the M-Fn button could change the problem. I've been on the phone with Tech Support and it looks like I'll be sending it in for service.
