Rebel XT Compact flash won't read

is this card full, empty, or bad?

I cannot delete or view from camera

I hate to format as my recent vacation images were on this card if they are retrievable yet

please help.

IMO, the computer either can't read the card or thinks it's full. The XT is old enough that it may be using a communication protocol that is now obsolete. Try using a card reader instead. Except in unusual circumstances, that's a better solution anyway.

Hi there,

It is certainly possible that the card can fail, especially if you have been using the same CF card this whole time. It would be a good idea to try a second CF card to make sure.
