t7i restricting material?

Hi all-

I'm having an error when I try to move footage from my sd cards to my desktop computer. It says something about a problem with the I/O device. I've been unsuccessful in figuring out the fix. I've tried several different cards and several different computers, but I've been using footage from the same camera. Does the T7i have a setting we might have accidentally chosen, that restricts content from being saved to the sd card? Or somehow restricting the content from being pulled from the card where it was saved? Just a thought as I'm having the same problem with more than one card and more than one computer.

You can only copy the files. You cannot use your computer to move them. Moving th files would require that the computer be able to write to the SD card inside of the camera, which is simply not allowed.

Ok, then it will not let me copy the files. When I select the media reader that the USB card is in, it will not allow me to copy them off of the card, onto the desktop of my computer.

Are you saying that if you take the memory card out of the camera that you cannot read it? Sounds like a bad reader.

Yes, but it's not the reader. I tried the same thing with a backup camera and didn't have any issues. It seems to be something with this camera. It's the only common factor with the problem. It's a new camera and we haven't had issues prior, so I'm not sure what has happened.

.... or a bad memory card. Can the camera read the card, and playback images?

If the camera is new, then it should be under warranty. Your best course of action is to contact Canon Support.

You cannot take a memory card out of one camera, and put it into another camera. It does not work if the models are different, sometimes it does not work even if they are the same model.

Thank you, I will contact them. I can see everything when the card is in the camera, it will just not let me pull the images for editing.

If you are using a USB cable, make sure the Wi-Fi in the camera has been disabled!

Also make sure it is not a charge-only cable, or simply a bad one.

What kind of card are you using?

Here's a page from my T8i manual. The same should apply to your T7i.
