We are having trouble with zooming in on items. We zoom in. When we look at the picture in the view screen. It looks far away. What do we need to do to the camera to get closeups. New to this as you can tell. Lol

What my wife is doing is doing is zooming in on an object taking the picture (through the eyepiece or on the lcd screen) it as if it was never zoomed in. Only close up setting will be close up.

How is she zoomiomg in? Using a zoom lens or enlarging the view on the LCD? What you see through the eyepiece is what the image will be.

She has tried both ways with the eyepiece and lcd screen. And it always looks like she never zoomed in. When taken with just zoom lens through eye piece the preview is like she didn’t zoom at all.

Let’s try a test. Can you take a photo of a book or newspaper that fills the eyepiece viewer in at least one dimension-height or width.

When you look at image after you take the photo how does it look.

No. Just set the lens and position yourself to fill the frame. You can be further away at 55mm.

Your lens is too short to see something like the moon. Look at my images of the recent Jupiter/Saturn conjunction too see what you can get with a 600 mm lens. You have 55 mm, or 10X shorter.
