It isn't the firmware. I have the same version and it works fine.

You did try another SD card?

Welcome fo the Canon Forum.

I am inclined to agree that a firmware update would not stop an SD card from being read by the camera. Have you tried other SD cards in the camera? What specific cards have you tried?
